The world humanitarian day, is a day set aside by United Nation to honour those who have lost their lives in humanitarian service around the world.
This year world humanitarian day was celebrate at bakassi IDP camp in borno state.
One of the stakeholders at the event, Ambassador Ahmed Shehu said the event is an opportunity to celebrate and inspire humanitarian workers around the globe and a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity when rendering help to others.
He added that constant attack on humanitarians and their facilities is unprecedented and has become a source of concern to many stakeholders in the country
Ahmed further called on the federal government and other relevant stakeholders to provide support, protect civilian and aid workers,and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable women, children and men, who desperately need relief, particular at this crucial time when we are scaling up efforts amid the COVID-19 pandamic.
Also speaking at the event, SEMA chairperson Yabawa Kolo, said the world humanitarian day is a day to reflect and to bring about peace in borno state.
She urged relevant stakeholders to support the effort of the government in bringing succour to the vulnerable in the state.
