Five notorious bandits’ leaders have been apprehended by the police operatives at various locations after a gun duel with the them for different high profile crimes.
It also recovered four AK 47 rifles and nine hundred and sixty round of live ammunitions.
The five suspected notorious bandits’leaders who specialize in high profile crimes ranging from banditry, kidnapping, Cattle rustling, armed robbery and culpable homicide confessed to have engaged in nefarious acts in Zamfara State.
The group that kidnapped the younger brother of Dr. Dauda Lawal confessed that they collected N20 million ransom while the abductors of Engineer Yahaya Maradun’s daughter said they collected N10 million Naira.
One of them said they used to share between two, three, four to six hundred thousand naira depending on the number that engage in operation.
The Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Police command SP Mohammed Shehu said the arrest of the suspected notorious bandits’ leaders were achieved by the operative unit from the force Intelligence Bureau deployed to Zamfara State and in collaboration with the operatives in the state.
He said the confessional statement made by the suspects is leading the operatives to the arrest of their partners in crime.
The Zamfara State commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran commended the police and other Security agencies for the giant strides made in Securing the State.
Among the suspects were a Nigerien who specialized in supplying of assorted sophisticated guns and ammunitions to bandits.
