The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has distance itself from a press statement making the news that the council condemned the arrest of CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele by the Department of States Services (DSS).

Cmrd. Isa Abubakar, the NYCN President, made the refutal in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna.

Abubakar also disclaimed to its entirety as purported in the statement that they
condemned DSS invasion of Emefiele’s Lagos residence and his forceful arrest despite court order baring the DSS from arresting him.

Abubakar, who doubles as the Chairman, Coalition of Civil Society Organization in Nigeria under the agis of Nigerian Citizen Action Group (NCAG), also denied calling for
Emefiele’s release as purported in the press statement.

He said “I strongly distance myself and our Civil Society Group from the purported press release.

“As a concern citizen/individual and being a leader or member of civil society organisations, myself or any of our member never made such statement,”Abubakar stressed.

He therefore, said that the suspension and subsequent raid and arrest of Emefiele was timely and accurate.

“The said forceful treatment by men of DSS is even far less of evil, frustration, fraud and hardship perpetrated against Nigeria state and citizens by Mr Godwin Emefiele while in office as CBN Governor,” he added.

He therefore, on behalf of himself and the coalition of civil society organization distanced themselves from the purported press statement.

He described the purported press statement as unpatriotic and being issued by faceless group and individual using their names and CSO’s identity.

Abubakar restated their committment in aligning with the path of truth and justice for common man.
